LET THE KIDS GO CRAZY! WHAT A HOOT!

Merry Christmas from Picket Patch Reclaimed Treasures!  Wishing you and your families the best of times and a safe holiday season.   XXOO

I created an owl Christmas ornament pattern and had such a great time making them with my little neighbor girls, I thought I would pass the joy on to you.  They are easy to make and the kids went nuts decorating them - lots of bling going on as you can see!

The pattern below can be printed on paper and transferred to cardboard for tracing.  Have fun!

Here's some helpful hints:
To print the pattern, click once on the pattern, then right-click and "save as" owl pattern to your computer's desktop.  Then open and print.
Use cardboard patterns to trace around on foam and felt.
For younger children, cut the pieces out ahead of time, giving them a "kit".
Cut 1 body out of foam for backing.
Cut 1 body out of felt and use a glue stick to cover the foam body, then adhere the felt body to the top of it.  Trim foam edges to match if necessary.
The brand Aleene's Tacky Glue works best to adhere the felt pieces to each other. I bought a 3-pk. for $1.29 at Michaels.
Wings and feet can be tucked between the body pieces or glued on top.
I used stiffened felt (you can purchase this kind) for the beaks and feet.
Embellishments: use bottle caps, wiggly eyes, gems, glitter - get crazy!
Punch a hole in the top center of the head and add an ornament hanger.

Picket Patch Reclaimed Treasures Goes To Market!

PPRT made its public debut at the 5th Annual Cumberland Arts Goes to Market Festival in Cumberland, Indiana last Saturday.  The Market is an annual event boasting 100+ craft, farmer produce, and food vendors, along with entertainment and we were honored to be a part of it!

PPRT was well received and given many compliments on the painted furniture and repurposed items we offered for sale.  We had a great spot with good visibility and one sweet lady said the booth looked darling as she made her way down the aisle toward our tent.  We met lots of very nice people and were given many leads on upcoming festivals and where to find the best "junk" around!

Thanks to everyone who made our day special, including all who stopped by, our customers, and especially Renee Michael of the Cumberland Town Hall office who made it possible for us to get in at the last minute.  Renee, you are a blessing!

So ON WITH THE SHOW. . .

     Whooo Loved Me?  EVERYONE!
Goodbye, Mr. Owl - he was our first sale and went to a good home!

Our SHABBY HALLTREE was a big hit, too!
(I'll be door shopping today :) so we can make more)

It's a Wonderful Day!

Hooray!  The blog is up and running and I’m excited to finally be able to share my love of the hunt for just the right pieces of furniture and junkie things to restore or repurpose.   I invite you to come through my picket fence gate and down the path to my workshop to watch as these discarded, broken, and unwanted items are transformed into fun, functional, one-of-a-kind treasures.

All of the items I feature in my blog posts are for sale, as well as other items, so be sure to view my BUY tab to see current items for sale and the link to Craigslist  that gives a complete description.
The list will continually change so check back often.  You can be notified of new blog posts by entering your email address in the Receive Posts via Email box in the right-hand column of this page.

My Etsy.com store is coming soon and if I get enough projects completed this winter my plan is to also sell my treasures at the Ellenberger Park Farmer’s Market on the second Sunday of each month May through October 2013.  Guess I’d better get busy!

I need your help to clean out my shed to make room for more, but enter the shed at your own risk!  Lol!  See
“The Stockpile” page for items waiting for me to give them some TLC.  (Pictures are not pretty but once restored these pieces will look fantastic!) Contact me to reserve the item that would look great in your home and choose a color and I’ll custom paint it for you!

I’d love it if you would share my blog with your families and friends and follow me on Pinterest and Facebook, too.  I welcome your comments and ideas, and hopefully I'll inspire you to try a DIY project of your own!

It's been a great learning experience to set up a blog, edit pictures, and create blog posts and I look forward to re-connecting with old friends and making many new ones along the way.

My gate is always open,  Jeri
